For many students and beginners, the biggest barrier to making art isn’t lack of skill, but fear: fear of doing it wrong, fear of judgment, or fear of not being “good enough.” The good news? Art is one of the most effective ways to develop confidence, even if you’ve never considered yourself creative. Here’s how. What Is Creative Confidence? Creative confidence is the belief that you can explore ideas, try new things, and express yourself—without needing permission or perfection. In art, creative confidence looks like: This confidence grows through experience, not […] - [From Blank Canvas to Finished Piece: A Beginner-Friendly Way to Start](https://wishartgalleryandartstudio.com.au/blank-canvas-to-finished-artwork/): Struggling to start an artwork because you don’t know where to begin? Whether your last masterpiece was in primary school or you secretly own 47 paintbrushes, this is your sign to show up anyway. For $65 per person, you’ll be guided step-by-step through the entire process, from blank canvas to something you’ll actually want to hang on your wall. No experience? Perfect. That’s kind of the point. This isn’t about being “good at art.” It’s about showing up, having a laugh, and surprising yourself somewhere between the first brushstroke and the final flourish. Everything is provided for you… canvas, paints, brushes, and gentle guidance along the way. All you need to bring is yourself, maybe a friend (or three), and a willingness to lean into the experience. The London Pub will be serving up its usual cozy atmosphere, so you can sip, relax, and let the evening unfold at its own easy pace. The magic of a Paint & Sip night is in the unexpected. One minute you’re thinking, “I can’t even draw a stick figure,” and the next, you’re stepping back and saying, “Wait… I made that?” There’s something about the combination of paint, conversation, and a relaxed setting that unlocks creativity in a way that feels effortless and, honestly, a little bit addictive. This horse-themed session is all about movement and expression. Think sweeping brushstrokes, soft blends, and just enough freedom to make your piece your own. No two paintings will look the same, and that’s exactly how it should be. Your horse might be bold and dramatic, soft and dreamy, or somewhere delightfully in between. Come solo and meet new people, bring a friend for a shared night out, or gather your own little herd and make it a social event. These nights tend to fill up with good energy, easy laughter, and that quiet sense of pride when everyone lines up their finished pieces at the end. And yes… there will be moments where things look questionable. That’s part of the process. We embrace the “awkward middle” here. It always comes together, and even if it doesn’t go exactly as planned, it becomes part of the story you’ll tell later. By the end of the night, you won’t just have a painting. You’ll have a memory, a new experience, and maybe even a tiny shift in how you see yourself creatively. Not bad for a couple of hours with a brush in hand. Spots are limited, so if this sounds like your kind of evening, don’t wait too long to book. Round up your crew, or come as you are, and get ready for a night that’s equal parts creative escape and laid-back fun. Saddle up, grab a drink, and let’s paint something unexpectedly beautiful For $65 per person, you’ll get everything you need to create your own artwork step-by-step, plus a relaxed, laughter-filled evening where perfection is absolutely not invited. Think flowing manes, a splash of personality, and maybe a glass (or two) of liquid courage. Come solo, bring a friend, or make it a whole herd situation. By the end of the night, you’ll walk away with a painting that’s uniquely yours and a story or two to go with it. Spots are limited, so saddle up early Tickets: 🎟️ $65 per person 🎟️ Includes all art supplies, guided instruction, and a ready-to-hang canvas 🎟️ Only 30 spots available Booking & Payment:Tickets can be booked online through the website and paid via PayPal or cash on the day. please book in and press COD as an option. At the centre are two people holding each other. It looks tender, and it is. But it’s layered. Because no relationship is ever just two people. It’s past versions of ourselves. Old wounds. Old identities. The beliefs we were raised with. The coping mechanisms we built. The parts of us that learned how to survive. All of that stands quietly in the room with us. The shadow profiles in the background represent those earlier selves. The versions who shaped us. The ones who were hurt. The ones who hurt others. The ones who tried their best with what they knew at the time. They don’t disappear when we grow. They don’t vanish when we fall in love. They influence how we show up. What we fear. What we protect. What we hold tightly. I’m interested in that quiet complexity. The emotional architecture behind something as simple as an embrace. The crows are deliberate. There’s an old rhyme: one for sorrow, two for mirth, three for a funeral, four for a birth, five for silver, six for gold, seven for a secret never to be told. There are seven crows in this painting. Seven suggests something hidden. Something known but unspoken. I like that tension. In relationships, there are always things that are felt but not fully articulated. Histories that are shared gradually. Fears that take time to name. Hopes that feel too fragile to say out loud. The crows are not villains here. They are witnesses. They are instinct. They are intelligence. Crows remember faces. They recognise patterns. They warn each other. I see them as the embodiment of awareness. They sit at the edge of transformation and observe what is really happening. They represent memory. They represent truth. They represent the parts of us that know when something is real, and when something is not. They also carry the weight of sorrow and the possibility of joy, just like the rhyme suggests. Love contains both. The lace dress exposes the spine. I wanted that vulnerability. The spine is structure. Support. It keeps us upright. Showing it feels intimate and strong at the same time. Vulnerability here isn’t weakness. It’s honesty. It’s allowing yourself to be seen without armour. The embrace is not about possession or fantasy. It’s grounding. Two people choosing to hold each other while everything else exists around them. The past. The shadows. The secrets. The watchers. The unknown future. They are not isolated from those things. They are steady within them. Colour builds the emotional tone. Warmth pushes against coolness. Heat against depth. There’s passion and there’s reflection. Relationships move through both. There are moments of clarity and moments of doubt. Stillness and intensity. Light and shadow. This painting isn’t about a specific couple. It’s about the emotional reality of intimacy. The beauty of it. The weight of it. The responsibility of it. Love is rarely simple. It asks you to bring your whole self. Not just the healed parts. Not just the confident parts. The layered one. The complicated one. The honest one. The one that carries sorrow and mirth and secrets. I’m drawn to duality in my work. Strength and exposure. Protection and openness. Awareness and surrender. I’m not interested in painting only the polished version of connection. I want to paint the truth of it. This piece invites the viewer to consider what stands behind their own silhouette. What secrets they carry. What instincts watch quietly at the edge of their decisions. Whether they are willing to be fully seen, shadows included. At its core, this work is about choosing connection with awareness. Not blind romance. Not fantasy. But real, layered, grounded love. And sometimes, that includes a secret or two. - [Cancelled Christmas Paint N Sip at Hillston Exies Club Ladies Lounge! 3-5pm 15th Nov](https://wishartgalleryandartstudio.com.au/product/christmas-paint-n-sip-at-hillston-exies-club-ladies-lounge-3-5pm-15th-nov/): Cancelled - we will hopefully be back in Feb 2026🎄✨ Christmas Paint N Sip at Hillston Exies Club Ladies Lounge! ✨🎄 It’s the most wonderful time of the year to get creative! The painting depicts a female form arising from the parched, cracked earth—her body both a figure of resilience and a symbol of impermanence. Her mouth is open in a scream, yet no sound escapes. This silent cry holds within it the weight of countless unspoken stories: of the land, of women, of the voiceless parts of ourselves, and of the earth itself as it struggles against erosion, drought, and disintegration. As she rises, she simultaneously dissolves back into the ground, her body breaking apart, crumbling in fragments, a reminder that creation and dissolution are bound together in an eternal cycle. She is not merely a figure but an embodiment of the earth itself—one who strives upward yet is claimed again by the soil. This duality echoes the tension between survival and surrender, between hope and despair, and between transformation and loss. Hovering above, eagles wheel across the sky. They bring a fierce energy to the work, an archetypal presence of watchfulness and power. In myth and symbol, eagles often signify freedom, clarity of vision, and transcendence. Here, their presence adds both protection and foreboding. Are they witnesses to the silent scream, guardians circling above, or harbingers of inevitability? The ambiguity invites the viewer to sit with their own interpretation, confronting the feeling of being both seen and abandoned. The choice of oil paint for this work was deliberate. Oil allows for depth, texture, and subtlety—qualities essential for expressing the fragile balance of body, earth, and spirit. Layers of translucent glazes build the ghostly quality of disintegration, while heavier textures in the cracked earth ground the figure in a raw, tactile reality. The slow drying process of oils mirrors the themes of time and decay; each brushstroke carries both presence and dissolution. A Silent Scream belongs to the tradition of symbolic and surrealist art while speaking to urgent contemporary concerns. It draws on mythopoetic imagery—woman as earth, scream as silence, eagle as vision—yet it also resonates with real-world struggles. In an era of climate crisis, drought, and environmental upheaval, the painting becomes not only a personal expression but also a mirror for our collective anxieties. The silent scream is the cry of ecosystems collapsing, of cultures fading, of unheard voices in society. It is a call to listen, even when no sound is made. At its heart, the painting is about transformation through paradox. The female form embodies strength but is fragile. She rises but falls apart. She is rooted yet reaching. Her scream is voiceless yet piercing. These contradictions are central to the work because they reflect the contradictions, we all live with—longing for permanence in a world of change, desiring freedom while tethered to circumstance, craving to be heard while fearing the vulnerability of exposure. In creating A Silent Scream, I wanted to invite viewers into an intimate and haunting moment—one that resonates across personal, mythic, and ecological dimensions. The work asks us to pause and reflect: What in our lives is disintegrating while we try to hold it together? What cries have we silenced within ourselves? What do we hear when the earth itself tries to speak? This oil painting is more than an image—it is an experience of tension, silence, and release. It is a reminder that even when the scream cannot be heard, its presence reverberates in the spirit of the viewer. In this way, A Silent Scream becomes not only a portrait of despair, but also a mirror of resilience, mystery, and beauty that survives within fragility. - [Guardians of the Storm](https://wishartgalleryandartstudio.com.au/product/guardians-of-the-storm/): 'End of the Drought' Medium: Oil on stretched canvas, varnished with Gamvar varnish 'End of the Drought' captures the moment a storm breaks across a vast landscape, a vision of renewal and relief after hardship. With influences as diverse as Bellini and Frieda Kahlo, new juxtapositions are dissected from both implicit and unconscious structures. I named my artwork ‘Delightful Blame – (Morning Muse)’, and created it using professional quality art products and mediums on stretched canvas. Finished off with acrylic varnish to seal and protect. Some of the things I learnt while creating it, was my lovf of abstract and mixed media. My favourite part is how pensive she is and yet the art conveys colour and joy …I hope you enjoy it too!     - [Sublime](https://wishartgalleryandartstudio.com.au/product/sublime-2/): Acrylic on stretched canvas, varnished for protection - [Shell Harbour](https://wishartgalleryandartstudio.com.au/product/shell-harbour/): Acrylic on Stretched canvas Round shape, varnished for protection 90cm - [JUST SOLD - Mischievous Maggie Acrylic artwork](https://wishartgalleryandartstudio.com.au/product/mischievous-maggie-acrylic-artwork/): I named my piece of art, 'Mischievous Maggie', and created it using professional quality art products and mediums on stretched canvas. Finished off with acrylic varnish to seal and protect. Some of the things I learnt while creating it, was my constant striving for perfection and realism. My favourite part is the textured background and those intense red eyes…I hope you enjoy it too! 'I'm like a magpie. I use lots of different things to build a character.' Andrew Lincoln - [Contemplating Corvine Mixed Media](https://wishartgalleryandartstudio.com.au/product/contemplating-corvine-mixed-media-acrylic-art/): Cackling Corvine Mixed Media Acrylic Art on stretched canvas. I named my artwork ‘Contemplating Corvine', and created it using professional quality art products and mediums on stretched canvas. Finished off with acrylic varnish to seal and protect. Some of the things I learnt while creating it was my lovf of realism and colour influences. My favourite part is that I thought I had used a lot of white tones and yet the piece conveys colour and freshness…I hope you enjoy it too! I created it with acrylic paint and collage torn up papers and by working around the coloured paper, I painted in the bird. Some of the things that I learnt while creating it were that the mixed media was sometimes hard to work over and include in the painting so that it looked as though it belonged. My other favourite part is the seriousness of the crow interplaying with the colourful leaves of the mixed media and the texture of the background. If I could change something about it, it would be probably be the paper collage. I would ensure next time that it was smoother and more harmonious with the canvas although in the case of this painting I felt it worked out well enough. 'One of the most challenging ways is to slow down enough to relax our heart and feel what is nearest. It could be the sun reflecting off of broken glass in an alley. It could be the shine on a crow. It could be snow on a lamp post.' Mark Nepo - [Eucalyptus Essential Oil Blue Mallee 1 Liter incl postage](https://wishartgalleryandartstudio.com.au/product/blue-mallee-eucalyptus-oil-1-liter/): Eucalyptus polybractea commonly known as ‘Blue Mallee’ is a small mallee type tree.  It only grows in natural stands in the districts north and north-west of Bendigo in Victoria and in the West Wyalong area in New South Wales. We farm eucalyptus for its oil on our natural plantation in West Wyalong. From free growing natural stand eucalyptus trees, drought resistant and quick to regenerate after harvesting, the eucalyptus and my family have been sharing the land for over 30 years. With lots of time spent beneath the sun, harvesting, cooking and producing an unfiltered, uncontaminated eucalyptus oil that is then bottled and sent to you to enjoy. Blue Mallee Eucalyptus Oil is 100% pure Australian Eucalyptus Oil and is vastly superior to the Eucalyptus Oil you find in supermarkets in Australia. Most noticeably for regular users of eucalyptus oil or first time users of Blue Mallee Eucalyptus Oil you will immediately notice that the odour is much stronger and lasts much longer. This is the way “real”eucalyptus oil should smell. If you ask older Australians who grew up with eucalyptus oil they are likely to tell you how much stronger it smelt in the “old days”. That’s because most Eucalyptus Oil now sold in supermarkets today is from a variety of eucalyptus called “Globulus” – imported from China and it simply does not have the strong long lasting fragrance that real Australian Eucalyptus Oil is renowned for. Eucalyptus Blue Mallee Essential Oil Benefits Known for its anti-bacterial ability. Use in massage for the relief of tired muscles. Create clean, fresh air and surfaces throughout the home and overcome bad odours. Benefits Use Blue Mallee Eucalyptus Essential Oil in a massage oil for the temporary relief of headache, arthritis, rheumatism and muscular aches and pain. It can be used as an inhalation for the temporary relief of coughs and colds, flu, sinusitis, and mucous congestion. Blue Mallee Eucalyptus Essential Oil is effective as an insect repellent and is used to treat burns, blisters, cuts, and wounds. The fresh scent of Blue Mallee Eucalyptus Essential Oil is energising, balancing, and purifying. Blue Mallee Eucalyptus Essential Oil is an exceptional remedy for clearing lung-phlegm and wind-heat. This makes it beneficial for the onset of flu or fever, sore throat, or the common cold. With influences as diverse as Pablo Picasso and ‘Georgia O’Keeffe, new states are shaped from both conducive and complex messages. I named my artwork ‘Jewels of Perseverance’ – (Dewdrop), and created it using professional quality art products and mediums on stretched canvas. Finished off with acrylic varnish to seal and protect. Some of the things I learnt while creating it, was my lovf of realism and colour influences. My favourite part is that I thought I had used a lot of white tones and yet the piece conveys colour and freshness…I hope you enjoy it too! - [Illustrious Visitor](https://wishartgalleryandartstudio.com.au/product/illustrious-visitor/): Acrylic with varnish on stretched canvas 101cm x 101 cm I named my piece of art ‘Illustrious Visitor, (Bee Delight) and created it using professional quality art products and mediums on stretched canvas.
